Nanning (Simplified Chinese: 南宁; Traditional Chinese: 南寧; Pinyin: Nánníng) is the capital of Guangxi autonomous region in southern China. It is known as the "Green City" because of its abundance of lush tropical foliage.
Geography
Nanning is located in the southern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 160 km from the border with Vietnam. It is the intersection for three tributaries of the Yong River, itself a tributary of the Xi River: the Yu River, You River, and Zuo River. The Yong River bisects the actual "city" of Nanning. It is in a hilly basin with elevations between 70 and 500 meters above sea-level. Qingxiu Mountain dominates the southern part of town.
Nannings climate is sub-tropical and monsoonal and it is sometimes warm in winters as well as summers. Average temperature is 21.7°C.
